Definitions of Low Back Pain

• Sciatica - also known as Sciatic neuritis. Chronic irritation and inflammation of the Sciatic nerve, usually caused by bulging lumbar inter-vertebral discs

• Piriformis Pain Syndrome and Thigh Muscle Pain - when the pear-shaped Piriformis muscle is entrapping and irritating the Sciatic nerve

• Hyperlordosis - also known as swap-back. A postural dysfunction that presents an anterior tilted pelvic angle

• Ante-Verted Hip and Retro-Verted Hip - postural dysfunction on one hip only - moving anterior or posterior

Signs and Symptoms of Low Back Pain, Sciatica and Piriformis Syndrome

• low back pain

• severely restricted movement of one of the Sacro-Iliac joint

• lumbar facet syndrome irritation

• pain from the Dura mater due to intervertebral disc bulging and compressing onto the main nerve root

• external rotation of the hip when walking

• usually only on one side, any combination of the following: pain, numbness and tingling sensations in the gluteal area and down the back of the thigh, lower leg and sometimes into the foot

• Trigger Points in the deep lateral rotators of the hip and leg muscles

• "drop foot" due to the anterior lower leg muscle loosing strength and loss of innervation from the Sciatic nerve

• weakness and other issues with knee flexion, and hip extension and abduction
