Definitions of Whiplash

Also known as acceleration-deceleration injuries and hyper-flexion/hyper-extension injuries

• Injuries associated with rapid, sudden movement of the cranium relative to the body

• A combination of injuries involving the cervical muscles, ligaments, fascia, inter-vertebral discs, facets, nerves and blood vessels

• Injuries usually involve the thoracic and lumbar spinal regions
